Let us introduce ourselves

Founded in 2020, BEFS emerged in response to the growing need for External Wall survey reports. Over the past four years, we've expanded our services to encompass all aspects of fire engineering consultancy. We remain current with evolving legislation and guidance, specialising in Fire Risk Appraisals for External Walls (FRAEW) and comprehensive fire engineering solutions.

BEFS Ltd is proud to be a Cladding Safety Scheme (CSS) panel member and an approved provider of Fire Risk Appraisals of External Walls (FRAEWs) for the CSS, which is administered by Homes England.

Our accreditations

At BEFS Ltd, competency is at the core of everything we do. Our Fire Engineers hold BEng (Hons) degrees in Fire Risk Engineering and are professionally registered as either Incorporated (IEng) or Chartered Engineers (CEng), as well as Chartered Building Engineers (C. Build E MCABE) through the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) and the UK Engineering Council.

We are proud to be third-party accredited to ISO 9001:2015 for our Quality Management System by 3core2 Certification, a UKAS and IAS accredited certification body. This ensures a consistent, high standard of service delivery across all our operations.

Our team of consultants and surveyors are carefully selected for their qualifications and, where appropriate, maintain third-party accreditations relevant to the specialist work they undertake on our behalf.

In addition, BEFS Ltd is Cyber Essentials certified, a UK government-backed cybersecurity standard. This certification confirms that we have robust security controls in place to protect our systems and client data from common cyber threats—demonstrating our commitment to information security and client confidentiality.

Accountability

BEFS Ltd holds appropriate Professional Indemnity Insurance to carry out all of the services we offer. We are also registered on the FIA portal to deposit EWS1 forms when required.

Richard Veti

MANAGING DIRECTOR
Richard has over 30 years of experience in fire safety work associated with the built environment, including 26 years in the Fire & Rescue Services.
Richard is a member of the Institution of Fire Engineers and is an IFE Registered Fire Risk Assessor (Life Safety). He has passed the RICS EWS Training Programme.
Other qualifications held by Richard include a Master’s degree in Business, a Bachelor’s degree in Law, and NEBOSH certification.

Terry Kinch

DIRECTOR
Terry has worked within the fire safety sector since 1988. As an electrician he specialised in fire detection and alarm systems in a large fire safety company.
Since 2003 Terry has been developing Fire Risk Assessment and Fire Safety Engineering. In 2007 Terry qualified as a Fire Risk Assessor completing the CHSS accredited courses and Manging Safety IOSH course to achieve TIFireE status. Terry is also Third Party Accredited as a Fire Risk Assessor through the BAFE SP205 scheme.

With over 14 years of dedicated practice in fire safety engineering, consultancy and risk assessment across varied building typologies, his expertise has evolved into a specialised focus on residential fire safety. In the past 7 years, his commitment has centred on collaborating with housing authorities, managing agents, and private property owners. His affiliation with the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) as a Member (MIFireE) and as a registered fire risk assessor (life safety) underscores his dedication to maintaining industry standards and professional integrity. Additionally, he has achieved recognition through the RICS Level 6 External Wall Systems Assessment Training Programme, further enhancing his comprehensive skill set and qualifications.
